Connect Columnline to Claude

The Columnline connector lets Claude work with your Columnline workspace. Claude can search your Knowledge, read your plans, Pursuits and outreach, and, when you allow it, save changes for you. It only ever sees what your own Columnline account can see.

Before you start

  • A Columnline account you can sign in to.
  • Access to the Columnline modules you want Claude to use. Your workspace admin decides this. Claude cannot reach a module your account cannot open.
  • Claude on the web, Claude Desktop, or the Claude mobile apps. On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner adds the connector for the organization first.

Connect from the Connectors Directory

The Columnline listing is pending approval. Until it appears in the directory, add Columnline as a custom connector instead (next section). Once it is published:

  1. In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors and click the + next to Connectors.
  2. Find Columnline and click Connect.
  3. Sign in to Columnline with your own account.
  4. On the Authorize access screen, review the access. Tick Allow saving if you want Claude to make changes, not just read.
  5. Click Authorize. You return to Claude, connected.

Until then: add it as a custom connector

On a Free, Pro or Max plan:

  1. Go to Customize > Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector.
  2. Name it Columnline.
  3. Enter the server URL https://api.columnline.dev/mcp/columnline and click Continue.
  4. Keep the detected sign-in settings, click Continue, then Add.
  5. Click Connect, then sign in and authorize as described above.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner goes to Organization settings > Connectors, clicks Add, chooses Custom > Web, and enters the same URL. Each member then connects from Customize > Connectors with their own Columnline sign-in. Free plans allow one custom connector. Claude's own guide has the latest steps: Getting started with custom connectors.

The URL is meant for Claude, not a browser. Opening it in a browser tab shows an “invalid_token” message, and that is expected.

What Claude can do

What you see depends on the modules your workspace has turned on and your role in Columnline. Your access is checked again on every request, so a change to your permissions applies right away.

Read

  • Knowledge: search your knowledge bases and open the source pages behind an answer.
  • Your Plan: read your plans, their revisions and meetings.
  • Pursuits and outreach: read Pursuits, reviews, leads, outreach replies, and Materials.
  • Inbox, Work and Sites analytics: read what is waiting on you, your Work, and your site numbers.

Write (only after you tick Allow saving)

  • Save new knowledge to a knowledge base you are allowed to edit.
  • Leave feedback on Pursuits and act on Pursuit reviews.
  • Register Materials, and draft or update Your Plan if you are a Platform admin.

Approving a review does not send anything. Claude only sends or launches work when you tell it to, and actions that reach another system ask you to confirm first.

Things to ask

  • “What does our Knowledge say about how we price a new client?”
  • “Summarize my plan for this quarter and what is still open.”
  • “Which Pursuit reviews are waiting on me?”
  • “Show me this week’s outreach replies and draft a response to the warmest one.”
  • “What is in my Columnline Inbox today?”

Disconnect

You can disconnect from either side. Either one ends Claude's access.

  • In Claude: Customize > Connectors, click the three dots next to Columnline, then Remove.
  • In Columnline: open My AI connections in Settings, find Claude, and click Disconnect.

Troubleshooting

  • Claude says Columnline needs sign-in. Click Connect again and sign in. If you already signed in from another chat, start a new chat. A chat opened before you signed in does not pick it up.
  • A tool or module is missing. Your account does not have that module, or your role does not allow it. Ask your Columnline admin.
  • Claude can read but not save. The connection was authorized without Allow saving. Disconnect, connect again, and tick Allow saving.
  • “No Knowledge to connect.” Your account has no knowledge base it can use yet. Ask your Columnline admin to check your access.
  • “Try again in a moment.” Columnline could not prepare your access. Retry the connection.
